If your loved one is experiencing stress behavior that is interfering with health, work, relationships, or any other part of their wellbeing, then together we can "play stress detective" to determine what overt and hidden stressors we can reduce. None of us behave the way we'd like when we are under stress. We will look at biological (including sensory), cognitive, emotional, social, and prosocial (contagious) stressors.
I have a tool box of strategies collected over 20 years that have helped people affect positive change in their lives. This is a dynamic process. We will experiment and see which strategies make a difference. This approach always includes co-regulation.
This service is not about "improving behavior." Stress behavior communicates to us that something needs to change. We work to meet the needs of your loved one and reduce their stress for positive outcomes. You will learn to support your loved one to restore energy lost from everyday stressors as well and to begin to reflect on their own states of stress and calm. For this process, I weave in the work of Dr. Stuart Shanker because his Self-Reg approach is so accessible.
